Do this yourself, no agency needed

Five things you can fix this week.

Twenty minutes and a phone gets you through all five. None of it requires hiring anyone — including me.

Finish every field on your Google Business Profile.

Hours, categories, services, service area, the Q&A tab — all of it. Then add a few real photos every month: the job site, the finished work, your crew. A thin, stale profile tells Google — and the customer standing in your parking lot — that nobody’s driving.

Ask for reviews that tell the story, not just the stars.

“Great service, five stars” doesn’t teach anyone what you’re actually good at — including the AI engines that now read reviews as source material. When a happy customer says yes, ask them to mention the job and what made it go right. Specifics are what get repeated back to the next person who asks.

Answer the real questions — a thorough page beats a brochure page.

A page that actually explains how you price a remodel, what a build timeline looks like, or what’s included in a service call will out-rank and out-convert a page that just says “quality you can trust.” On the pages that matter, aim for real substance — something closer to 1,000 words than 150.

One page per service, per town — don’t make one page do five jobs.

A single page trying to cover five services and three cities usually ends up thin on all of them and specific about none. Split it out: “kitchen remodels in Seguin” and “kitchen remodels in New Braunfels” are two different pages, even when the work itself is identical.

Check how AI sees you.

ChatGPT and Gemini now recommend local businesses by name when someone asks who’s good at what you do. If you’ve never checked whether you show up in that answer, that’s the easiest audit you’ll run all week — see below.

The AI shift, in plain English

People are asking a chatbot before they Google you.

“Who’s a good electrician near Seguin” or “best pool builder in Guadalupe County” — those are normal questions to ask a chatbot now, not just type into a search bar.

Those answers aren’t pulled from some separate AI-only database. They’re built from the same things that have always mattered — your Google Business Profile, your website, and what your reviews actually say — read together as one signal. Keep that one stream solid and you show up in both worlds.

Proof it’s winnable from Seguin

TKG Custom Homes, a client of mine right here in Seguin, is proof. Cited by ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity on its tracked buyer query — every week we've measured. As of July 2026.
